Inside a million-square-foot Midtown office tower, renovations are moving forward while business continues uninterrupted. Union contractors and carpenters with the New York City District Council of Carpenters are performing interior renovation work at 520 Madison Avenue, the 43-story tower that serves as the global headquarters of Jefferies Financial Group.
The work spans multiple floors, with union crews performing interior commercial work, floor covering, finish woodwork, furniture installation, and architectural metal and glass work. The renovation also includes an elevator lobby and window treatments throughout the space.
Much of the work is being performed on weekends and outside regular business hours, allowing trading floors and offices to remain operational during the week. With business continuing throughout the renovation, the work has to move forward around the people and operations that keep the building running every day.
